Nook Color unofficially gets Android 3.0 Honeycomb (AWESOME)

First it was Ubuntu, now Honeycomb, the latest version of Android designed for tablets, has been ported to the Nook Color. What is especially amazing about this port is the fact that Android 3.0 Honeycomb emulator was just realized yesterday.  xda-developers has a thread going on the subject; the current port is said to be really slow and mostly broken.  The developer says he plans on working on graphics acceleration to improve performance over the weekend.

UPDATE: The promised graphics acceleration is complete. Video of it in action below.

Ubuntu ported to Nook Color

The developers at the XDA Developers Forum ported Ubuntu to the Nook Color. It’s “a little laggy” and has its errors but overall it’s solid and it works. This particular hack, was inspired by Ubuntu on a Nexus One hack. Click the link for more information and instructions on how to add Ubuntu to your Nook Color (as always, proceed at your own risks.) The Nook Color is turning out to be the perfect Android tablet for hackers that is.
